Parlay this Bead Head Stonefly Nymph - 2 Pack into a big steelhead or trout dancing on the end of your fly line! The black and brown offerings are tied in the Randall Kaufmann style for a realistic imitation and to sink quickly. Stonefly nymphs inhabit streams and rivers that move swiftly and cling to rocks in this stage for up to three years before migrating to shorelines to discard their final exoskeleton. When dislodged from their rock by accident or by migration and swept into currents, trout and juvenile steelhead (later, adult steelhead) take advantage in shallow areas. This is also a good winter pattern as stoneflies will emerge from their holds and migrate to shorelines to mate on bright sunny days when temps are in the 30-to-40-degree Fahrenheit temperature range. Turn over a few streamside rocks and if you find a segmented leggy, two-tailed nymph with antennae clinging there, you know a good pattern to try is this Bead Head Stonefly Nymph - 2 Pack!
- Use for brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, steelhead
- Mimics the nymphal stage of stoneflies, which are found throughout the world typically clinging to rocks at the edges of fast flowing streams and rivers
- Technique: find low riffles that transform into deeper and slower water; on a light tippet, cast the Bead Head Stonefly Nymph so that it will drift through the riffle and into the following pool
