    I fish for trout about every 3-4 weeks and fish all day those days, so lots of use. I prefer these reels to any I have for stream fishing - they cast well, don’t have to close a bail, and I almost never have a tangle or other issues. The only issue these have (like all spincasters) is you have to have some tension in the line for the pickups to grab and start spooling - not hard to manage at all. I have more expensive traditional spinning reels, but these are much more functional for me on creeks/streams. I venture far from my truck and I always carry a spare because when they do fail, they are not field repairable and really for $40, not worth repairing. But I get 4-5 years out of a reel and they see lots of action. After each day of fishing I pull the line out in the yard and reel back up to get any twists out, and I make sure they are clean of grit, etc before putting them back on the rack I also put fresh line on about twice per year and these reels do exactly what I need.

    Works good out of the box, like the rear drag, casts well for 12 lb mono. Time will tell on durability against Small-mouth and Northern pike.
