FishUSA, Inc. (www.fishusa.com), headquartered near Erie, Pennsylvania, is an industry-leading online fishing tackle retailer, dedicated to exceptional product selection, customer service and timely delivery of products throughout the world. We are currently seeking candidates for the Fly Fishing Buyer position. This is a full-time, hourly position based at our facility located in Fairview, PA, west of the City of Erie, and requires work Monday through Friday with occasional required work in the evenings and on weekends.

We will consider candidates interested in part-time work who are available to perform that work at our facility in Fairview.

The Fly Fishing Buyer will be our primary buyer for our fly fishing lines, as well as buying additional product lines and providing support across all areas of the buying department.

Specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Act as primary buyer for all fly fishing lines, and select non-fly fishing lines as assigned by the Director of Merchandising, including:
  • Generating and creating sales and inventory reports
  • Generating stocking and preseason orders for defined vendors
  • Planning, meeting, and following-up with vendors
  • Recommending the addition or removal of specific products
  • Assist the Director of Merchandising & Director of Marketing in formulating advertising and promotions for fly fishing related products
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in the fly fishing industry
  • Provide subject matter expertise to other departments and, when necessary, to customers, including both our online customers, and customers at our Pro Shop located in Fairview
  • Attend trade or consumer shows as a Company representative
  • Interface with fly fishing Pro and Field staff, and fly fishing related groups
  • Support our overall buying objectives and department as needed

Required qualifications for this position are as follows:

  • Extensive knowledge of and a passion for fly fishing, and a commitment to maintain that knowledge
  • Passion for and general knowledge of sport fishing
  • The ability to work and communicate cooperatively and professionally with our customers, vendors, Pro and Field staff, and fly fishing related groups
  • The ability to analyze numbers - including sales trends, vendor discounts and data
  • Ability to learn the functionality of our back-end computer system as it relates to the tasks of the position
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency with our word processing, spreadsheet, and email programs
  • Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to travel to and work from our offices during normal Company work days and during normal Company work times
  • Ability to travel to dealers and other off-site locations as needed
  • Ability to attend off-site conferences and events, including trade and consumer shows
  • Ability to fly fish, including casting, wading, and fishing from a boat
  • Willingness to help in other departments when necessary

Desired qualifications for this position are as follows:

  • Prior experience in a buying or purchasing department role
  • Prior experience working in a fly or tackle shop
  • Experience tying flies
  • Prior experience in ecommerce
  • Existing relationships in the fly fishing community

This position provides an opportunity to work in both the ecommerce and fishing fields, and will provide exposure to a wide range of buying and ecommerce functions.
