The Alpha Point 4.8 vs The ultra Point 4.3 - What's The Difference?

4.8 (or 4.3) is the length of the hook point from the barb slice to the end of the hook point in relation to the wire diameter.

The 4.8 series offers a longer, slimmer needle to enter or penetrate the fish’s mouth.

The Alpha Point 4.8 hook point is on a 21-degree angle from the barb.

Vs. The Ultra Point 4.3, which is a 26-degree angle from the barb.

The Ultra Point 4.3 is a shorter and wider needle point than that of the Alpha Point 4.8.

Chinu Light

The Mustad Alpha Point Chinu Light Hook is an extremely versatile hook that can be used for a variety of fishing applications.

The Chinu Light is a forged 2x fine wire available in eight sizes ranging from a size ten up to a 2/0. The smaller sizes are perfect for trout, panfish, crappie, and perch.

The Chinu is a very thin and light wire hook, making it an excellent choice when fishing in rivers with low flows as to not interfere with your presentation. The middle and larger sizes can be used as an alternative to drop shot hooks for bass and even live bait fishing for walleye.

ISEAMA

The Iseama is a forged 2x strong and stout hook available in eight sizes ranging from a size six to a 4/0.

This is a rugged hook and offers added strength when targeting big fish such as salmon in heavy current flows. However, it's very versatile as well and excels when drop shot fishing around heavy cover, saltwater sheepshead fishing around barnacle infested pilings, or any other technique where a small but strong hook is preferred.

The two fish above were hooked incredibly well with Size Two ADX Advantage Bead Hooks. Having to pull these fish upcurrent takes incredible force, and if you're not using the correct hook it's almost certain to straighten or pull out of the fish's face, ending in heartbreak and nothing more than a fish story. I was amazed at the Advanatage Bead Hook's ability to keep these giant fish pinned.

These hooks are currently available in 10 or 50 packs of sizes one, two, three, and four, but smaller sizes are planned to be released soon. These sizes will be more appropriate for Great Lakes steelhead anglers.

Alpha Grip Finesse

The Mustad Alpha Point Alpha Grip Finesse Hook is forged in 1x wire and is available in five sizes ranging from one to 4/0.

The grip pin is welded to the hook shank to keep baits pinned without sacrificing strength. The red epoxy resin closing off the ringed eye also aids in keeping plastics securely fashioned.

The hook’s slim, razor razor-sharp point and TitanX finish allow it to easily penetrate fish’s mouths and keep them pegged. All you have to do is lift into a fish to get that hook to stick.

Assault Wide Gap

The Mustad Alpha Point Assault Wide Gap Hook is a forged 1x strong hook designed to provide high hook-up ratios and improve hook sets on sizable fish. Available in seven sizes ranging from a smaller size two up to a 5/0.

The Z-shape of this hook keeps plastics out of the way on the bite. Mustad’s Tak-bend design helps to position the hook point above the eye, which results in a flush lure and better hook sets.

The 90-degree bend keeps the fish pinned in the corner of the hook even if the bait collapses during the strike. The wide gap also allows this hook to be used with various sizes of swimbaits on the market today.

Assault Heavy

The Mustad Alpha Point Assault Heavy Wide Gap Hook is similar to the Assault Wide Gap but is a forged 2x strong for heavier applications, such as fishing with heavy braided line. It's available in six sizes ranging from 2/0 - 8/0.

This hook also features the ‘Z’ bend for keeping your soft plastics secure, a 90-degree bend to keep fish pinned, and a wide gap for use with a great variety of soft plastics.

Tak Offset

The Mustad Alpha Point Tak-Offset Worm Hook is a forged 2x strong worm or small swimbait hook. It’s available in six sizes ranging from 2/0 - 7/0. Like the Assault Hooks listed above, it features a ‘Z’ bend to keep the nose of your bait locked in place.

The 90-degree angle at the hook point end was created to keep fish pinned and locked in the corner of the hook. Should the bait foul up during the strike, it will drop down and out of the way to provide enough space to hook the fish well. This hook also features the red epoxy resin closing off the ringed eye.

Infiltrator Swimbait

The Mustad Alpha Point Infiltrator Swimbait series is a unique hook. It’s available in three varieties, unweighted with no lead, weighted with lead, and weighted with a blade. This forged 2x strong hook is offered in seven sizes ranging from a 2/0 up to a large 10/0 for big swimbaits or saltwater fishing applications.

This hook features an Alpha Spring that allows the angler to quickly attach any swimbait with just two turns of the bait. The double wire spiral allows the bait to self-center itself, reducing damage to the nose of the bait. This feature works in combination with the straight eye so that your swimbaits swim true and in line.

A-Tak Ned Head

The Mustad Alpha Point A-Tak Ned Head is a forged 2x strong hook with a 90-degree bend eye. It's available in four sizes - 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4oz. Each weight size is availbale in four colors.

These ned heads are equipped with either a size one or 1/0 hook based on the jig weight. The Alpha Spring is also included for self-centering baits onto the jig head and for enhancing the durability of your plastics.
