Zakk Royce is the owner and operator of Blues Brothers Guide Service on Lake Gaston, which spans across the North Carolina and Virginia border. Zakk grew up fishing with his father on the nearby banks of the Meherrin, Chowan, & Roanoke Rivers, as well as on the banks of Lake Gaston. As he grew older, his love for fishing only intensified.
Zakk is a two-time state record holder for blue catfish in the state of North Carolina. In December of 2015, he caught his first state record blue catfish which was 91 lbs. After returning from having the fish weighed to be certified as the next state record, he ventured back out to release the 91 lb fish back into the lake and decided to keep fishing. Zakk’s luck would continue the very next day. Within 24 hours of catching his 91 lb state record catfish, he beat his own state record by catching another monster state record catfish, weighing in at 105 lbs.
Zakk is a dedicated fisherman who spends countless hours on the water and is out on the water targeting fish 300 days out of the year. Zakk specializes in catching large trophy catfish, but you can also find him fishing for other freshwater species such as striper & walleye, as well as for various species of saltwater fish.
