The Walnut Creek Access Area is located on Lake Erie in Fairview, PA. At the peak of walleye season in the spring and summer, it is one of the most popular boat launches into the Pennsylvania waters of Lake Erie. Yellow perch are also a common target during these months. In the fall and winter, Walnut Creek offers a world-class steelhead fishery, and the steelhead fishing is excellent at the Access Area and just upstream. The occasional lake-run brown trout can also be caught as well. In conjunction with the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, the live camera feed shows the current weather and lake conditions at the Walnut Creek Access Area.
Avonia Beach is located at the foot of Avonia Road on the southern shore of Lake Erie in Fairview, PA, just west of Presque Isle Bay. In the fall and winter, anglers flock to Avonia Beach to take advantage of the world-class steelhead fishing. In the spring and summer, walleye, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch can be caught. Avonia Beach is also the location of Trout Run, a state nursery water for steelhead. Fishing is not allowed in the stream, but it’s quite a spectacle to view the incredible number of spawning steelhead in this small tributary. The Captain John E. Lampe Marina is located at the foot of Port Access Road in the City of Erie. It is owned and operated by the Erie Western PA Port Authority. The marina opens directly into Lake Erie just north of the channel to Presque Isle Bay. Additional information about the marina can be found HERE.
